Wed 09 May Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, each street has its own speciality. There is one street that is entirely dedicated to selling pet birds in cages - the Yuan Po bird garden. Why do they need so many pet birds? I guess that in a city like this, with no room for other animals, birds and fish are their only options. Another street was full of clothes - the next was full of pet shops.
In the afternoon, we caught the Ngong Ping cable car for a 25 minute ride over Lantau Bay to the Tian Tan buddha - a massive bronze(?) statue that stands in serene majesty, overlooking a horde of tourists and a buddhist monastery.  30 plus degrees, and high humidity.
